Apple Marks September 9 As Probable iPhone Launch Date (NASDAQ AAPL)

The iPhone 6 is now expected to be unveiled on Sept. 9. Several sources report that Apple Inc (NASDAQ AAPL) has scheduled an event for that day. However, there is no particular source, and it doesn’t seem like any reporters have received invitations for an event.

Although Apple isn’t officially saying it’s the iPhone 6 event, it seems logical as the timing is about right. In the past, Apple has unveiled the year’s iPhone at an event held in September, which is why most expect this Sept. 9 event to finally reveal the iPhone 6.

In general, people seem to be expecting a September release date as well, although there have been several reports suggesting that the launch of one or both of the rumored models could be pushed back to October.

Apple Inc (NASDAQ AAPL): iPhone Launch- Possible Delay

One reason there could be a delay is because there was an explosion at a factory in China. The New York Post gives the expected iPhone 6 release date as being in mid-October. However, the report also suggests that the explosion at the factory could delay it even more.

The explosion killed 75 people and injured hundreds more. Although it happened at a factory where car hubs are made, it stopped production at other factories nearby. Some believe iPhone maker Foxconn could be affected by the closure, as it is reportedly in the process of assembling the iPhone 6 right now.

Apple Inc financial news (NASDAQ AAPL)

It’s generally believed that Apple Inc (NASDAQ AAPL) will release two iPhone models this year, one of which is expected to have a 4.7-inch display and a second which is expected to sport a display that’s 5.5 inches in size. The main reason there are rumors suggesting that the larger model will be delayed is because of problems with the size of the display. Other potential problems include issues with the sapphire glass that could be part of the device and production issues with the battery or other major components.
