Active Stock: Facebook (NASDAQ FB) Starts Stickers Feature in Comments Section

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ FB) stickers can now be used for comments on people’s Timeline posts, Group Posts and Event Posts. Until now, these cute stickers could only be used in Facebook Messenger, but now the company has plans to make the stickers available to a wider audience.

In order to add stickers on the timeline or in the comments, users need to tap the smiley face icons in the bottom right of any comment field on their Facebook Inc (NASDAQ FB) page and select the sticker they want to share with others on the thread. Bob Baldwin, an engineer on the project, released the news about stickers through his own timeline, saying that the “stickers will allow people to reply to a variety of posts in a more fun way than words alone.”

Baldwin said that Facebook Inc (NASDAQ FB) account holders can now easily show excitement over news, support a friend “who’s feeling down, and express a variety of more nuanced reactions.”

Facebook Inc: Stickers

Baldwin revealed that the idea of adding stickers to the timeline emerged during a hackathon, and was brought into the mainstream after witnessing the popularity of the idea. However, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ FB) has not yet made available the use of these stickers to enhance the brand engagement stats.

To some, stickers and emojis are silly things as they feel no one takes a dog eating a cheeseburger or a cat riding a scooter seriously, but these stickers are method of communicating users mood and attitude, which is not easy just using text. There can be situations at the social networking site where someone made a joking comment, but another person misunderstood it and attacked the person who cracked a joke.

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ FB) Business News

That’s how stickers and emojis come in handy, as they can convey the exact emotions without the need to type a detailed text. This is probably one reason why Facebook decided to expand the reach of stickers on its website. However, one problem with including stickers in comments is it makes threads longer and requires more scrolling.
