Active Stock: Google (NASDAQ GOOG) Aims Dominance With Android One

Google just introduced another smartphone in efforts to take over the mobile industry. The company just unveiled Android One in India. The first devices unveiled come from partners Spice, MediaTek, Karbonn, and Micromax. The phones are now available for 6,399 Rupees (about $105 in U.S. dollars).

This launch also paves the way for launching more devices from Acer Incorporated, HTC Corp, Lenovo Group Limited, QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ QCOM), ASUSTEK Computer Inc, Panasonic Corporation and Alcatel OneTouch.

These industry heavyweights are predicted to launch an array of affordable phones with varying screen sizes, hardware configurations, device colors, and customizable software. These companies will bring more affordable phones in emerging markets.

The Android One program was first unveiled at the 2014 I/O conference. This program will eventually reach other markets including Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Philippines by late 2014. We can expect even more locations next year.

Pichai hopes to bring these technologies to even more people. Android One simplifies the process for developers to build phones which tackle international challenges as well as offer more in terms of design and features. Such features include high quality cameras, expandable storage, and more processing power.
