In fact, the company is trying to make a bridge between the power as well as performance with Intel. At the same time the company is making attempts to lower prices of laptops.

The new processors come equipped with quad-core and triple-core laptop processors. Due to them application performance will be enhanced as well as power consumption will be reduced. Usually, mainstream laptops are available with dual-core chips, if core will be added; users will get better performance at lower prices.

The two triple-core as well as three quad-core Phenom II processors are able to clock at speeds between 1.6GHz and 2.3GHz. Moreover, they draw power between 25 watts and 45 watts. Such chips will be included onto laptop devices of such makers as Hewlett-Packard, Dell, as well as Lenovo.

Furthermore, AMD introduced low-voltage Turion II Neo and Athlon II Neo processors that are designed for ultrathin laptops. The processors are available in a dual-core as well as singles-core variants and can draw the power between 12 watts and 15 watts.

One can say that with the help of new chips AMD is trying to better its weak position in the market as well as beat Intel. In the first quarter of 2010, AMD had a 12.1 percent market share, while in the first quarter of 2009, the company held 15 percent. Intel is considered to be the leader as the company held 87.8 percent market share of laptop microprocessor in the first quarter of 2010. A year ago the company had the 84.3 percent market.
