4 days ago, I wrote an article about the predictions and impacts of viruses in the year 2011. Yep, we’re 1 day away from the next year and already, tons of companies have poured out their heart ‘n fear, pertaining to the new malwares and viruses that will affect the computers.
Hackers, as of now, are trying to raise a ruckus in the Android community, by squirming their way through some malicious scripts. The application is codenamed “Geinimi” and falls under the category of a malware, with prospective intentions of harvesting personal user information. The harvested info is later on sent to a remote server, which is basically set up by the Geinimi creators.
Geinimi is primarily targeting Chinese speaking Android clients. Maybe the hacker had a bad experience with a Chinese in his life and he wanted to take it out against all of them. Don’t know what the real reason for Geinimi development is, but I sure know that Google was tipped off by a random user who raised some suspicious concerns in the forums.
Immediately, the sleeping giant (Google) woke up and said that the company has been in touch with developers to keep tabs on the progress against Geinimi.
The company is still analyzing Geinimi, and it isn’t clear what its creators are aiming to do with a victim’s phone. But several aspects of the malware have already raised concern. The malware communicates with a central command-and-control server. The server can issue commands to a phone remotely, such as to download or uninstall software. The user of the Android phone is prompted and must approve either action, but it still raises concern.
“It might be a vector to install other potentially malicious applications,” said a Google official.

It’s a border-collie to scare the sheep into safe download sites.
Where they don’t have to think.
Or download WikiLeaks apps and other things that will only confuse them.
