Cell Phones Will Have a Square Shape

Big cell phone manufacturers such as Microsoft, Nokia as well as Motorola consider that a big part of consumers needs palm-shaped as well as flaunt cute devices. Moreover, they can resemble compact powder cases.

It is expected that Motorola is going to unveil its new handset, known as Flipout. The device will be equipped with a 2.8-inch display and twist-out keyboard. It will incorporate a 3.1-megapixel camera. No tests were made, but one can say that the device looks fabulous.

Microsoft’s Kin One was released earlier this month. It comes equipped with a 2.6-inch display, and features a slide-out keyboard. When it is closed it resembles a rounded square.
In September last year Nokia launched the Twist. It is a squarish handset that is enabled with a 2.5-inch display. But one should recall that even LG offered a cell phone in a square shape, called the Lotus.

According to Paul Bradley, executive creative director of Frog Design, a handset available in a small square design feels right for women as well as younger audience. Moreover, they are very pocketable.

Actually, it is not a surprise that ads of Kin One involve young people and teens uploading photos to Facebook as well as texting. Also it would be right to admit that square-shaped handset can stand out from a range of smartphones available in the market.

Nowadays industrial designers regard the square shape as the next opportunity, which can be used in the market of handsets. Moreover, the square shape does not feel like it imitates Apple.
