Dell is readying to launch its first android tablet, known as Dell Streak. But it turned out that the Streak is not considered to be an Android tablet, it is just an Android-based cell phone.
The positioning of the Streak as a tablet is misleading. Actually, the Streak can be compared with such a device as the HTC EVO 4G.
It should be mentioned that the Dell Streak was showcased in January, but no details were reveled until today. In fact, it is regarded as an Android device that spots capabilities of handsets as well as Wi-Fi, 3G connectivity, and Bluetooth. It is enabled with Android standard widgets and applications. It is expected to be available in the U.S with a monthly plan offered by AT&T.
The Dell Streak is equipped with a 5-inch screen and powered with 1GHz Snapdragon processor. It offers 2 GB of internal storage.
The Streak is based on Android 1.6 but it will have an upgrade of Android 2.2 this year but a bit later.
As a matter of fact, the Dell’s device has almost the same specs as the EVO 4G, the only difference is the size of screens. The EVO 4G comes with a 4.3-inch screen supporting the resolution of 800×480 pixels, as for the Streak, it is enabled with a 5-inch screen, offering the resolution of 800×480 pixels.
You may ask why the Streak is regarded as a tablet and the EVO 4G is a handset. According to some arbitrary law, handsets are becoming tablets in case they feature a 4.4-inch screen mark.
