Does Google Chrome Have Enough Juice to Save the Notebook Lineup?

 Google-Chrome

Notebooks with their small screens used to be quite a sensation in the past. You remember Asus with its famous EEE series product lineup, a 7 to 10 inch screen was perhaps exactly something that the users were looking for. Eee PC sold more than 300,000 units and everyone thought that the notebook/netbook thing was the big sensation in the market.

They were wrong. Strictly speaking in the context of netbooks, I have to say that those machines rely on light operating systems. As far as the Windows XP race ran, users had to run this system through gritted teeth. The netbook experience just bogged down to a boring experience.

So the verdict clearly says that netbooks in particular, have a lot in common with the 2001 desktop PCs. They used to be quite a sensation in their times. Speaking of verdicts, the netbook product lineup is headed for demise anytime soon. Those machines need a light set of resources and the only way to get them is through a good operating system.

Where does Google Chrome OS come in?

Well, for once, Chrome OS is expected to save the netbook lineage. But then again, seeing to the Chrome CR48 power and review thing, I have to say that the operating system better suits the laptops. The good thing is that the OS was made to stay connected, but then again the CR48 takes 60 seconds to completely boot up. All the data is automatically encrypted for pure online action, which can be a hitch for those who don’t have good internet connection. As far as the netbook and Google Chrome OS relation goes, it could probably work. “Why do I think this strategy will work?” says Google CEO Eric Schmidt, “Because of mobile computing.” And that’s the crux. Using Google’s web smarts and mobile technology, Chrome OS could be about to breathe life back into the netbook.
