Facebook to Offer HTML5 Support for Videos

Facebook-to-Offer-HTML5-Support-for-Videos It looks like one more Website has decided to join “iPad Ready” clique of Apple. On Tuesday, it was discovered by MacStories that the latest videos of Facebook are being converted into HTML5. As a result, it will be much easier for the owners of iPhone and iPad to watch videos.

Now, users who would like to show their video creations on Facebook, are provided with two options, i.e. upload to Facebook or through YouTube. Till present days, iPad and iPhone users were able only view linked YouTube clips. Facebook is going to provide Flash Player upgrade that is familiar to everyone and is required when you tap on the link.

It looks like Facebook is going to abolish that banner from its videos. So if you are a user of iPad or Phone, you can tap on a Facebook clip and, as a result, you will be provided with a full-screen clip. But still the company has to convert a big part of its collection.  A few older as well as newer Facebook videos were tested. It was found that videos that became available before April 1 still need Flash to play. But it is unknown whether Facebook is planning to convert older videos.

Probably, the company hopes that it is possible to change Website in order to become suitable for users of iPad who require not just a separate application. But still one should note that more popular sites that are based on non-Flash video are beneficial for mobile users that is not so bad.
