Free Books for iPad

Free-Books-for-iPad It has recently been announced that when the Apple iPad is released to the public on April 3rd, there will be a slew of free eBooks available from the Project Guttenberg library. Project Guttenberg is a volunteer service that digitalizes literature for the public domain. This literature has passed its time limit for its copyrights and is available for reproduction without any legal hassles. According to a report by AppAdvice, the Project Guttenberg people will be offering up over 30,000 free titles through Apple’s iBookstore, while at the same time, offering up paid versions of newer books as well.
iBook App Needed
It’s believed that Apple’s decision to offer up so many free eBooks on the first day of the iPad release is a way to counter any attempts by third party sources to get a foothold on profit in the public domain of literature. While Apple’s move to offer free titles alongside the paid titles is a good one, you will have to download the iBook’s app before you are able to get any titles. Apple is offering the app for free in its App Store so you won’t have to worry about paying for that.

Getting ahead of the race and offering up so many free titles, especially free classics, is one of the smartest moves Apple has made in a very long time. It seems that they are really booking on their eReader app to provide people with an alternative to the Kindle system that seems to be tacking off pretty well.
