The Black Hat security conference is set to be conducted in Barcelona next week, it will involve training sessions along with briefings that will be conducted by the most well-known security researchers.
It is expected that Max Kelly, Facebook’s chief security officer will hold a keynote presentation which is scheduled to be on Wednesday morning. As for the last day of the conference, they will be dedicated to briefings coming with the research into a range of threats and application vulnerabilities as well as the Internet.
It should be mentioned that one of the presentations will be focused on a solution to place a backdoor into ERP application of SAP. Usually SAP’s business software is used as a core of a company’s operations and can be used for coping with human resources, invoicing, billing as well as procurement.
SAP’s software is based on the database that is taken from companies like Oracle. But still quite a lot of companies configure the database of Oracle incorrectly due to which the SAP system becomes vulnerable to attack.
In fact, the problem with the Oracle database and SAP have been known for a few years. But recently the way to slip a “backdoor” into a program in the database was revealed by Nuñez Di Croce. As the Oracle database does not make an integrity check of the source code, it will be complicated to identify the attack.
The company of Nuñez Di Croce is going to launch a tool known as the Onapsis Integrity Analyzer which is designed for SAP. The tool is responsible for checking applications within the database in order to be assure that they have not been tempered with.
