Microsoft to Push Off Users from Old Operating System

Microsoft-to-Push-Off-Users-from-Old-Operating-System As you all already know Microsoft decided to abandon Windows XP. And according to an analyst, such a decision can be explained by the fact that the company is trying to push off people from the old operating system.

Moreover, such moves give an opportunity to rivals like Mozilla to make inroads into market share of Internet Explorer. As a matter of fact, XP is in the same world as IE6 and Office 2003. Moreover, the company does not want to elongate the existence of those products.

Actually, Microsoft is not going to create an IE9 version specifically for XP. The thing is that the company is including acceleration based on graphics processor to the browser. The acceleration works on APIs that are integrated into Windows 7 and are also included to Vista in October 2009.

One can say that the XP operating system is getting ready for its final retirement in April 2014 although 13 years have passed after its launch. According to McLeish, non support of IE9 for the old OS is considered to be a business decision of Microsoft. Moreover, quite a big part of firms are going to upgrade to Windows 7.

Browser rivals such as Mozilla are given a window of opportunity. At present Mozilla and Google are trying to boost their Firefox and Chrome browsers, including acceleration into hardware.

Nowadays there are enterprisers that allow using Firefox on their networks or they are thinking to move to the browser.

As for Chrome, it has little traction in companies. But one should say that the browser of Google will get more respect from IT administrators. It can happen because there are battles between Google and Microsoft because of online applications.
