Microsoft to Release 25 Patches for Windows

Microsoft-to-Release-25-Patches-for-Windows It turned out that Microsoft is going to release 11 security updates in order to patch 25  vulnerabilities of Office, Windows and Exchange as well. The launch is planned to happen next week, i.e. on Tuesday.

Last Month Microsoft offered two updates that were able to patch six vulnerabilities. In February security fixes were available in 13 bulletins that as a result fixed 26 flaws.

But still the good news about Microsoft is that the company is trying to fix two major bugs.

It was noted by Jerry Bryant who is a group manager with the Microsoft Security Response Center, the 11 updates included two patches that previously were acknowledged as vulnerabilities. Microsoft revealed the bugs in November 2009 as well as March 2010.

It was warned by the March security advisory that users of Windows XP did not have to press F1 key although it was advised by a web site.

As for the November 2009 warning, it was noted that there was a bug in SMB which is regarded as a network print- and file-protocol used for Windows 7 as well as Windows 2008 R2, considered to be the newest operating system of Microsoft. But it should be mentioned that at that time it was the first flaw when Microsoft confirmed about zero-day vulnerability for Windows 7.

Later the vulnerability was acknowledged by the company and as a result it was fixed. Among 11 updates one can emphasize Bulletin 1 as well as Bulletin 2 as they were mostly interesting to Storms. As a matter of fact both affected all versions of Windows and, moreover, they were marked as critical.

Windows 7 will be able to get four among the 11 updates that involve the one which is able to patch VBScript-F1 vulnerability.

The company is going to launch the two updates on April 13.
