According to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft is going to overhaul management of its division connected with videogames, mobile handsets as well as other consumer devices.
Microsoft, which appeared to be behind the iPhone of Apple’s Inc. and Android operating system of Google Inc., will probably announce alterations at its devices and entertainment division this week.
But still Microsoft refused to comment anything.
J. Allard who takes the position of chief technology officer and led the development of the Zune music player as well as Xbox game system, may leave following the recent decision made by the company. As a matter of fact, the company intends to shelve the Courier, an experimental tablet computer which was spearheaded by Allard.
According to the Journal, the departure of Allard is not the only change. In fact, one should expect more from the reorganization.
One could assume that the coming changes will meaningful for Robbie Bach who is responsible for the devices unit and entertainment since the creation in 2005. Bach launches the original Xbox in 2001.
A management change will happen before the company rolls out its latest hands-free system designed for the Xbox, known as Natal. It is expected to happen at the E3 gaming conference, which will be held in the middle of June.
One should say that devices as well as entertainment is the fourth biggest operating units of Microsoft, following Windows, Office and server units. As a matter of fact, the unit managed to develop the successful Xbox game system. But as for Zune that is considered to be a digital music player, the company failed to repeat success of Xbox. Also Microsoft is losing its position in smartphones and mobile.
