Micro-Star International (MSI), Taiwanese PC maker announced on Thursday that it would release three new touchscreen tablets on June 1. They will target business users. Two tablet devices will be based on Windows 7 and one will be available with the Android Honeycomb operating system of Google.
The WindPad tablet packs in an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and is based on Android Honeycomb. As for the second tablet device, it is powered by a Brazos processor of MAD and has a display-enhancing chipset. The third device comes with an Intel Atom processor that is used for handhelds.
The Android tablet will be offered for US$399. The starting price for the Windows 7 WindPad is $549. The company has not set a price for the Windows 7 model that packs in the AMD processor, but it is known it will be between prices of other two tablets.
The Android WindPad is considered to be one of the first Honeycomb based tablets that cost less compared to an iPad.
MSI touts that battery life promises six hours on the Windows based tablets as well as eight hours on the Android powdered tablet devices. All the models feature accelerometers that are used to define the orientation of the device as well as rotate images on the screen. There is also an auto light sensor that is able to adjust screen brightness as well as Wi-Fi. The weight of Android tablet is 800 grams.
MSI hopes to attract business users who got used to Windows rather than iOS.
According to Liao, if a person prefers the Mac OS, he would choose the iPad, but if a person likes Android or Windows 7, he would choose the product of MSI. Business people who use Windows will find that the new tablets offer the same experience like they had before.
Other companies, such as Asustek Computers, Acer as well as Sony are going to take on the iPad, which was the leader on the market of tablets.
