No More Firefox on Windows Mobile

Firefox Mozilla was gearing up to create a mobile version of its Firefox browser to run on Windows Mobile apps but has decided to stop working on it altogether. The news came after Microsoft stated that they were going to stop issuing native applications for their smartphones that are running their Windows Phone 7 series software. While Mozilla was has been doing relatively good work for Microsoft’s CE 6, hoping to get a foot hold in for the Series 7 phones, without the developers kit for native applications, Mozilla will see its hard work go down the drain.
Firefox Pushed Out by Silverlight
Microsoft’s new designs will only be allowed to use the Silverlight runtime environment and this has pushed Mozilla out the door. While they may be lost to Microsoft, Mozilla has been working hard to make it up by creating a browser for the new Android version of smartphones. Also, they are still doing work with the Nokia flagship smartphone running on Maemo that came out on January 29th of this year.
Still Hope for Firefox
Although the Android version of Firefox is still in the pre-alpha stage, Mozilla still has high hopes that all of their efforts will prove to be fruitful. With as much work as Mozilla has put into creating a mobile version of their web browser, it should be only a matter of time before you see Firefox popping up all over the place on smartphones of every make and design. If this happens, it will surely open the doors to new and more exciting technologies that will benefit all.
