Although Sony keeps silence over the new PSP2 system, rumors about the device have been circulating for more than a year.

No doubts that the new PSP exists. This fact is supported by leaked photos, development kits, rumors about touch-sensitive pad. There are even a few verbal slip-ups by Kaz Hirai, president of Sony Computer Entertainment.

According to Nikkei, Japanese newspaper, Sony is going to create the PSP2, which will be the first game machine that will be supportive to the 3G cell phone network. It means that you will not see the current wireless LAN functionality.

With 3G users will be able to download games as well as software over the Internet and at the same time play with other owners. Also it was mentioned that the PSP2 will not feature the voice communication.

It is suggested that the new system will be equipped with a larger organic electroluminescent display. The device will be enabled with touch-panel functions. Moreover, Sony is going to develop a chip, due to which it will be possible to enjoy high-resolution images.

Nikkei also reported about the rumored PlayStation Phone. The paper suggests that the handset will be based on Google’s Android operating system and it will come with a variety of software, including schedule management as well as gaming.

According to speculations, Sony plans to roll out the PSP2 by the end of the year. It is expected that the new model will have a higher price compared to the current PSP model.

US Sony representatives disclosed about the press event on Tokyo. It will be held on January 27. The company is going to share its strategy and business overview. But they refused to comment on any other topics that were discussed on several sites.
