Sony Signed a Deal with MLB

 Sony-Signed-a-Deal-with-MLB The Sony Corporation has signed a contract according to which PlayStation3 video game consoles will be able to stream the live service of League Baseball.

Also owners of PlayStation will be provided with an opportunity to sign up for MLB.TV by the end of this week. Due it, they will be able to watch baseball games that are transmitted over the Internet. It should be mentioned that it is considered to be the latest deal of digital distribution which was announced by sports franchises.

According to Sony, such a deal leads to a repositioning of the PlayStation console, making it a hub for digital entertainment. It has become not just a game console, it redefines the way content is deliveres to the room.

It is considered to be the first deal for MLB. Users that have the PlayStation Network available online can get access to the existing package of MLB.TV. It includes hundreds of baseball games. But there are no local team games as well as others, which are broadcasted on TV for an annual fee. Sony did not disclose the terms of the deal.

Moreover, some handsets, Boxee and Roku devices as well as the iPad are provided with access to the MLB subscription video package. In 2009 MLB.TV had 500,000 PC subscribers. Due to the deal with PlayAtation, MLB will be able to gain greater audience.

According to Sony, 12 million owners of PlayStation3 consoles will be able to subscribe to MLB.TV in the United States. Moreover, nine million of them are already connected to the Internet.
