The social media giant also reminded users to review changes within the terms of service and policies for data collection, advertising, and tracking cookies. According to Facebook Inc (NASDAQ FB), many of the changes were made to included transparency regarding operations.

This involves details on how location information is collected and used on mobile devices, information about the new Buy button that allows users to make purchases without leaving the website, an explanation on how Facebook analyzes data to enhance apps, and additional details on how Facebook shares data between services.

Prior to this change, a user could opt of adversiting settings on a laptop but the same settings would not apply on the user’s iOS device. These changes will officially take place on January 1st 2015.

Early next year, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ FB) is reportedly set to launch a social website for professionals called Facebook at Work. The site will directly compete against social media rival Linked In. Sources reported to the Wall Street Journal the new site would allow people to chat with co-workers as well as collaborate on projects. Right now, Facebook’s staff is testing a beta version (and ad-free) of Facebook at Work. After the holidays, a select number of the site’s users will be able to access the site.
