All eyes in this Tour de France edition will be on the 2013 UCI Road World Championships winner Rui Costa, who will be cycling alongside his teammates for Lampre-Merida. 2013 Giro d’Italia winner Vincenzo Nibali will also be under the spotlight for Astana Pro Team, whilst Omega Pharma-Quick-Step’s Cavendish will be looking to add to his 25 stage wins and Cannondale’s Sagan will be on the lookout to win his third consecutive green jersey.

Movistar will be missing Dowsett due to health problems, while the Dutch starters for Belkin-Pro Cycling Team and Team Giant-Shimano will be looking to end the race wearing the yellow shirt for their teams. Orica-GreenEdge will also be looking to continue on their ascent, but the rest of the teams – Team Katusha, AG2R La Mondiale and Lotto Belisol – will also be hopeful.
