Waiting for a Hailstorm and Snowfall in World of Warcraft

 World-of-Warcraft

This article doesn’t have to do anything with Cataclysm, the upcoming WoW expansion. I’m just here to talk about wintery places in World of Warcraft. Have you noticed that there’s not much of a snow to look around at? Orgrimmar is always bright and spick n’ span. Hinterlands area is full of grassy knolls and a couple of trolls and evil mashed up B. Elves.

A few days back, I was knee deep in a Vent chat session with my guildies. We were talking about finding the best Winter themed area in the game. One of my friend suggested Icecrown Citadel. Well bro, Icecrown does have “ice” in its name, but then again there’s not much Ice to look at. Inside the instance, there are those Big Skeletal Lords with oversized Adidas joggers; Arthas probably bought them on a one-size-fits-all basis.

Next on the stop is Storm Peaks, which is a nice area and actually does have that whitey glow to it. You can harvest “Relic of Ulduar” over there by killing a few dwarves. By the way, up until now, all of the level 80 guys are well equipped. WoW has become a little lenient on offering gear to even those fellows who don’t even deserve it in the first place. I have my Epic warrior, he’s level 80 and I spent a long time in gearing him up. I was off from the game for 3 weeks and guess what. There’s this guy (Ixinite, Ixinight – Burning Blade) who always used to look up to me. When I logged in, he was way ahead of me; his gear, trinkets, armor set and everything had changed.

Anyways, I just got carried away with the gear discussion. Some of the readers will beg to differ but let’s admit it; as long as Burning Crusade and Vanilla WoW was there, finding gear was hard as hell. Remember that T-4 Set? Those items were spread all over Kara, Serpentshrine Caverns and Archimond.

Coming back to the winter theme, we won’t be seeing snow because Cataclysm is coming. There will be a lot of charred buildings and desecrated lands. There will be ashy grounds but Snow? Hmmm I’m not able to think of a lot of areas right now. Maybe there will be a few renditions of Storm Peaks, but that’s it.
