Wal-Mart to Cut iPhone 3GS’s Price

On Monday it was announced by Wal-Mart that it is going to offer the 16GB Apple iPhone 3GS for $97. It will be available with a two-year contract. One should say that a $100 cut was made from the current price of the handset at Wal-Mart as well as a $102 cut from the current price of the iPhone 3GS at the Apple store.

Actually, such news became known before the annual event of Apple, i.e. World Wide Developers’ Conference at which Steve Jobs Introduced the new model of iPhone.

Probably, Wal-Mart is expecting that Apple will not only roll out the latest iPhone, but it will also cut the price of the iPhone 3GS to $99 when the iPhone is available in the market.
According to a spokeswoman of Wal-Mart, the company wants to become a leader in market price. As Wal-Mart is offering the iPhone 3GS for $197 that is $2 less compared to the current price offered by Apple, the company considered that Apple will do the same and will make a decision to slash the price of old models by $100 when the new handset is released.

It turned out that Apple has stopped delivering the 8GB iPhone 3G to the stores of AT&T. Probably Apple is going to pave the way for the iPhone 3GS, i.e. to drop the price to $99 when the latest model is rolled out. But such a fact is not confirmed.

It is believed that Apple will release the Phone 4G on June 7, 2010.
