Wimbledon Match of Day with Andy Murray and Serena Williams

Wimbledon : With the conclusion of day 2 comes the end of Round 1 and day 3 promises to be as action packed as Round 2 is set to begin in Wimbledon. So far there are have not been any upsets as the top seeds have gunned their way through into the second round. Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams breezed through their matches as did Simona Halep.

Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer also had no trouble as they swept through their opponents. Rafael Nadal survived an early scare to keep his Wimbledon chances alive and continues to chase Federer’s grand slam record.

With all the big names still in contention on Wimbledon’s courts, it’s anybody’s game as the action heats up with several matches to watch out for. After easily dispatching of Goffin the defending champion Andy Murray will have to come up with a different strategy against the giant Rola. About Rola, he had this to say on the Guardian.

Wimbledon Matches to watch out for: Andy Murray vs. Blaz Rola

“He’s a big guy. He takes chance. He goes for his shots. He probably doesn’t have much grass-court experience because he hasn’t been on the Tour that long.” “But he’s a tricky opponent with his style and being a big guy. He can generate power from the back of the court. He moves pretty well for a big guy too.” Murray added. The defending champion will be in the spotlight now more than ever after re-writing history in last year’s Wimbledon. Only time will tell if he will be able to defend his title.

Women’s: Serena Williams vs. Chanelle Scheepers

Serena Williams has had a disappointing year so far. She suffered premature exits, by her high standards, at both the Australian and French Open. Despite that she is still one of the hot favorites to win the tournament and is seeded No.1 for the tournament which is a testament to her.
At 32 she is still powering her way through opponents and is looking to answer her critics. If the first round is any indication of what lies ahead then we could see her lift her 18th grand slam soon.
