Yahoo iPhone Apps

yahoo Yahoo has released two new iPhone applications this week, one of which is a great way to find a restaurant in your area. Using the built in GPS system on the iPhone, a user can draw a circle around the area they are in and pushpins will point to restaurants in the area they circled. Once you click on a pushpin, you will get to see a list of all the restaurants’ information so you can decide on what kind of place you would like to eat in.
Voice Command Search Option
Yahoo also released a search option for the iPhone that allows its users to use voice commands to find information, and has a deeper understanding so it displays more pertinent information. Using certain keywords lets the search feature recognize exactly what you are trying to find, and will give you more detailed information instead of a bunch of links that just have the word on the site.

Even though Yahoo has a contract with Microsoft for its search engine functions, Yahoo is still persistent in working on its own search applications such as the ones they have just released for the iPhone. With all of the competition from Google and Bing, it’s been rather tough for Yahoo to find deals with mobile operators, but a few are in the works. One that has Yahoo very happy is AT&T deciding to use Yahoo search on its Android Backflip. Even though a search agreement was made with AT&T, they have said that you do not have to use the Yahoo search feature on the Backflip if you don’t want to.
